Conservation of the Primary Forest
A large tract of pristine primary forest around Idiofa has been identified as a priority for protection. Unlike reforestation, this is a conservation effort, not a planting project. The financing plan is still under discussion with potential partners: neither the target area nor the budget has been finalized.

Part of the Idiofa region is still home to primary forest—an ecosystem that has never been logged—which is far richer in biodiversity than a replanted forest. These areas are particularly threatened by slash-and-burn agriculture and the harvesting of firewood.
Faja Lobi seeks to secure these plots on a long-term basis, using the same community-based model as for reforestation: local communities become guardians of the forest rather than being forced to clear it to survive.
