Progress on the Bitshambele Industrial Zone Project: Launch of the Micro-Turbine and Community Engagement
On May 31, 2025, the community of Bitshambele hosted a strategic briefing on the industrial zone project, marking an important milestone: the start of the first phase of construction of a micro-turbine.
This key infrastructure is designed to supply a food processing plant that focuses primarily on the processing of cassava and corn, which are iconic products of local agriculture.
This innovative project, led by the NGO Faja Lobi, places rural communities at the heart of its development efforts. By organizing producers into sustainable cooperatives, it aims to create a strong, inclusive, and resilient value chain.
The meeting brought together local officials, including Mr. Adélard Kintolo, administrator of the Idiofa territory, as well as the heads of the Musanga-Idiofa, Kanga, Kalanganda, and Yassa-Lokwa sectors.
Mr. Zacky Madilo, Chief Financial Officer of Faja Lobi, presented an innovative strategy to ensure the long-term viability of cooperatives, while Mr. Jurgen Heytens, Operations Manager, outlined the NGO’s overall vision for development.
This project also benefits from the integration of cutting-edge technology: carbonized coal, developed by Mr. Patrick Rueyres. This eco-friendly innovation will provide a sustainable energy solution while reducing the environmental impact.
Through this initiative, Faja Lobi is strengthening its commitment to integrated socioeconomic development, based on community empowerment and the promotion of local resources.
